yes. Our group seems does not install emacs in our SGI machine.(unix)

In that case, download emacs from prep.ai.mit.edu.
After unpack, run
configure --prefix=/your-home-dir
make
make install
that's it.

there is so many files . I can not figure out which one is correctly emacs
.
