如何在UNIX系统中把一个子目录压缩成一个文件，且转移到DOS/WINDOWS下还可以自解压

How did you compress it? Windows Explorer is quite good doing the
job browsing archives...

oh, i have some source code in the unix machine, and the machine doesn't have
a floppy, i just need to move them out by email.

the difficult part is self-extracting. you know the excutables are different
for unix and dos/windows.
otherwise you can use zip or tar/gzip to achieve that and extract the archives
using, say winzip.

you mean winzip is able to decompress tar files created under unix?

sure. winzip can extract all popular achive files.
