I got a question like that: there is an UNIX server somewhere that I can
telnet, and on that server I can telnet to the internet. Now how can I
configure the server to let me telnet to the internet transparently from my
PC?

you can download a socks5 proxy source from http://www.socks.nec.com and
compile it. then run the socks5 with correct config. since socks5 proxy
bind to port 1080 in default, you don't need root privilege (I suppose
you don't have it, right?) on your pc, install sockscap and then you can
run almost all network programs through socks5 proxy.

you can install a gateway(router) software on that machine.

Thanks, it works perfect. but in fact I have the root privilege, is there
some method to do some kind of configuration without additional software to
solve this problem?

No, you need programs like sockscap on windows, and socks5 packages
contains a similiar utility 'runsocks' to enable you sockify programs
under UNIX. Some windows program may already support socks proxy, i.e.
IE, Netscape, NetTerm, SSH Client (ftp.ssh.com).

A new relative question, after install socks5 on the unix server and socksca
p on my pc, everything works for me except the QQ. it seems support the
socks5 but I can't get connect in QQ? Because QQ use UDP, is there something spe
cifial to configure UDP for socks5
