目前博后，一家人在美国，对目前课题不是很有信心，想跳槽。为将来找发考题做准备
，得找一个牛校和牛lab才行。
跟我研究靠谱的剑桥大学，不知道该不该去？3年期。
但是，不喜欢伦敦的气候，将来也不可能留在英国永居（绿卡），还是得再折腾回美国
找发考题。但是英国的福利很好，孩子过去就可以入小学免费。老婆过去读研，也只需
要考雅思（在美国还要考GRE）。。。。
麻烦大家分析一下~！

我这个礼拜要回国，忘了问HR要 employment verification letter, 正常程序要10天
才给办，时间上来不及了。不知道自己写一个letter让老板签名的会不会被签证管接受
？

还有英国医疗是免费的，就是效率低一下
2010年前英国绿卡和国籍很容易的
以前四年工签就可以拿到绿卡，绿卡一年国籍

从我个人来讲，不知道欧洲实验室与美国实验室的差异在哪里？据说，欧洲实验室很轻
松，当然文章的产出也就少一些。

Cambridge is not in London, it is about just under 1 hr train ride north of
London, as far as I can remember. It is a very lovely town.
Practically, there is no or very little heat in summer, so cool! I like it!
I do not like the sweaty weather in Nanjing or in Philadelphia where I am
from and where I am now.
Come on, the weather is not that bad! I lived in London for 1 yr (Masters)
and Dublin, Ireland (PhD) for 4 yrs, south England got so much more sunshine
than Ireland! I love their summer where everywhere is pretty but still at a
very pleasant temperature and you can go to see the ocean very easily!
Who says European lab is easy? It all depends on you and your boss! You work
hard and you get the results!
They might have more holiday time and of course annual leave than the US! So
take advantage of it, travel Europe and go to China! You wont need to re-
apply for visas every time you go to China, they normally give you longer
multiple entry visas!
There are many Chinese faculties over in the UK, if you want to stay.. I
have a friend who got the lectureship after phd and postdocing in Ireland!
So if you are good at what you are doing, you can be faculty anywhere!

May i ask why you relocated to Philadelphia since you had 5 years in UK.

看你看中什么。如果一定想留在美国，就别去。如果追求学术上更进一步，剑桥当然
是个好地方了。

算了把，现在英国都乱成那样了，回国呼呼人还行，在美国找个top20的学校绝对实在
的多

i was in London only for 1 yr then my PHD scholarship came from Ireland, then i moved to Ireland for the studentship and a better suited major (ireland is not the UK)
then Ireland moved into the start of the recession in 2009, then I graduated.. Ireland is too small and not much of my research (unless i stay in my old lab).. US is bigger and with more of my type of stuff + i have relatives on the East coast, thou not Phila. --- so all depends on your major and what you want to do.
I have a friend that I knew from Masters, he did his PhD in London, his dad paid for it, so he stayed... i cant pay that much so i had to move to where the money was...and he is postdocing in Imperial College London.. its nearly 7 yrs since we arrived .. he said 4 more yrs, he can be PR and his daughter can be British citizen.
Oh, plus,safety is grand, esp if you are in cambridge where most ppl are highly educated! those places with riots in the UK are relatively less advantaged areas! I used to live near Tottenham in london where the riots started back years ago.. it is not a very nice area.. i didnt feel very safe.. so i moved after 3 months. You hv nothing to worry about in Cambridge.
