Try grab an executive of your utility provider and joke that you would kill
his whole family to save yourself from paying the bill. You would be charged
for death threats, or some kind of trouble with law.
Try let your kid in school joke about killing the whole class. The kid would
be expelled from the school and his parents would be in trouble.
Now this kid advocated for genocide of a people not in school, but on
public broadcasting. And no one is responsible for that?
The kid would have got reprimanded had he joked to kill any one in school,
but it is OK ed by the US society when he "joked" about killing the Chinese
people over debts? And on ABC broad casting? If this is not racism, what is?
And the show was made by adult professionals who at least edited it and
aired it, and by the standard practice, most likely wrote out the script,
why are they also not accountable for the show? Because it calls for
genocide of the Chinese? If this is not racism, what is?
To you it might be "funny", but for the targeted person or people, it won't
be. As I suggested before, you can try to be funny to joke to an executive
of your utility provider and joke that you would kill his whole family to
save yourself from paying the bill. You would be charged for death threats,
or some kind of trouble with law.The law does not care if any bystander
would feel funny, but only cares the impact your joke made on the person you
targeted.
