）2 。黄西非常消瘦，戴着副眼镜，一脸木纳。可他一开口只一句话全场已经笑翻。接
下来的六分钟里，一个又一个的段子（翻译成中文就失去了味道的美式笑话）让在场观
众笑得东倒西歪，数次掌声雷鸣。到了最后，连他的沉默都成了笑料——这可是大师级
的表现。这位一炮而红的黄西，1970年出生于吉林省白山市；本科就读吉林大学化学系
，1994年赴美留学，1999年获得莱斯大学生化博士学位。
黄西讲着一口浓重中国口音的英语征服了美国的观众。这在绝大多数国内正在拼命学习
英语的学生来说是件匪夷所思的事情。从小学起，无论是老师还是学生，主流的看法就
是“发音一定要标准”。无数的老师以自己被认为能够讲一口“标准”的美音或者英音
而自豪、而被羡慕。学生也好、老师也罢，常常相互争论应该学习“美音”还是“英音
”，甚至为此面红耳赤。
中国学生往往不是不会说英文，也不是不愿说英文，更不是不能说英文，基本上都是不
敢说英文。为什么不敢呢？很多原因。其中有一个是最普遍的，害怕自己的发音不标准

对，美国内部的语音分歧跟中国完全没法比（但英国就内部分歧很大）

我看这人很大程度上满足了普通米国人眼里一个普通中国移民的猥琐形象。
您那口音论非常牵强，米加各地的英文口音哪有那么重。最重的澳洲南非印度，口音的
差别也赶不上中国普通话跟什么福州话啊上海话的差别。

Joe Wong 的成功其实和就在他的敢说，而且有强烈的口音，
况且他的 joke 都不差，很多比 Jay Leno 和 Letterman 的
stereotype 要强不少！ 其间并没有贬低中国，但也没有
献媚美国，就是一个普普通通的移民，通过这个身份来讲joke，
所以很可爱！

说完rice university之后的掌声是从一个角落里慢慢响起的，可能那里有校友吧。这
些包袱肯定是准备好了，但是丢的时间也很重要啊。
我记得以前他的版本里还有一句，so i came from the rice paddy to rice

The thing that's funny is it is on his own cars bumper sticker. Bumper
stickers are supposed to express car owners' views and opinions. He

他买的就是这么一辆旧车，刚来英文不好，所以两年都没明白是什么意思。

I thought his slogan is intentionally "Who Cares", because he is known as "
who" to most people and he cares although it sounds the opposite. His jokes

is in this business...
Joe is not great, not even good among most of the comedians here in Boston,
the majorities of good ones were often invited from out of state ... BUT he

comedians emphasis on two major topics - sex and politics, in that order.

Just watched Joe's new show, a lot of good jokes, keep it up! You have to wait a while for Joe's new jokes, but again, it is very impressive as a FGI. but if you think he is a good example for learning english? Almost missed this one by the cliche title. It's hilarious! Definitely one
of the best comedy shows I have seen in years!!!!
他的发音很中国化，但他的英文的确很强，能写得出那么subtle的joke的，需要丰富的
关于美国文化，历史和时事的知识，无论通过读还是看还是听，获得这些知识并能将它
们灵活运用的人英文底子肯定已经很厚实，他的英文听上去除了口音很重之外，如果光
看script，其实很不错。但是如果没有那个口音做对比，他的很多关于外国人在美国的
笑话就不会那么好笑了。
在美国生活越久，就越发现，英文交流最重要的是背景知识和遣词用句及语法，口音对
美国人来说根本不是问题。Joe Wong的英文好是不用怀疑的。觉得他的笑话不好笑的应
该是没听懂吧。那个雪地撒尿的意思前面有人的解释太寒了，人家笑话的意思是你在黑
夜雪地里撒尿，你看不见以为make difference，因为尿和雪不一样吗，但其实不是，

futility of life's endeavors with an absurd imaginary scene: you cannot see
the result of your peeing in the snow in a dark night

What I don't understand is why some people here saying it is his look and
accent that make the jokes funny. That so off. Those are well crafted witty
jokes that you rarely hear in these days' standup comedies. Even if he look
like Chow Yun-fat and speak perfect English, those are still great jokes!
Stand-up comedies have been so boring these days, it's either a white guy's
making dick and fart jokes or a black guy making funny faces and noise and

世界各族人民都总有听不懂的别国笑话，那么大家都生活在笑话中了。
Joe的笑话涉及政治，但是我感觉并没有影射西藏这样深层的意思。
政治敏感度深的人，大概听什么都别有深意吧。
