第二个好翻译：

We have more than 20 students in our class.
Our class has more than 20 students.
第一句，不能简洁翻译的情况下，语意明确更重要。

英语口语里面没有问第几的说法，非常傻逼。
这个问题早就问过老美好几遍了。
以前想问人家你是兄弟姐妹里面排行第几..
最常见的问法不是直接问，而是旁敲侧击:
are you the youngest (或者oldest）?
人家就会说no. I'm the second oldest...
至于问总统，旁敲侧击法失效，那么怎么问呢？
What number is president Obama?
是google上可以搜出来的。
至于正规不正规就不知道了。
正规的问法是：
Ordinally which president was Lincoln?
Which president was Lincoln in order/in sequence?
不太正规还可以问
What is Barack Obama's president number?
What number president is Barack Obama?
Barack Obama is president number what?
第二个问题很简单，20 something就是20几。

here means 20 plus a few, less than 5 usually, but definitely less than 30.
Yours would include 30, 40, and more.

第几的当然有,但你必须要加上是什么"列"比如
how does you team ranked in your baseball league?
你们棒球队排名第几?
但问兄弟姐妹排名就比较formal所以都是用旁敲侧击方式问.如果正式问应该是
what born order are you?

你这种就是典型的中国式学究型的英语，我正学NESL，老师是土生土长的老美，昨天上
课老师刚好问了这个问题，这么问是一种默认形式。
至于你那个20 odd用法更是装那啥，普通人说话从来不这么说，听的人压根听不懂。

more than 20那就是默认超过20，不会超太多什么，40,50。。。。，超过30不到40就
说more than 30了,哪个傻B非要纠结100也超过20这种弱智问题，中国人从小考试都是
那种玩文字游戏厉害的人胜出，聪明反被聪明误

英语没有直接问第几的，但是有很多替代方法。
问rank是问，你们的名次是多少？
你第二个问题的翻译是，你的出生序号是多少？
和第几的意思一样，只能算是一种替代方法。

土生土长并不代表完全正确.你只知道一种并不代表只有一种. 如果是说20几(20多一点
), 口语一般是a little more than 20, 很多时候人们用"more than 20",要么就是他
们不想别人知道比较精确的数字,或者他们不知道到底有多少,比如有一队马拉松运动员
跑过,有人问你刚那堆人有多少人?你也不清楚但知道肯定过20人你就会说."it must
have been more than 20", (肯定超过20人). 20 odd当然有人用,你没听过只能说你口
语差而已.

土生土长说明普通人日常就是这么交流，日常这么说话，含义大家心照不宣，不会产生
什么歧义，当然答案可以好几种，但是有的显得不口语话，太文绉绉，有的显得用词生
僻高深，有的则强调的重点不同（中国人看起来意思一样罢了）

当然有直接问第几的,比如我的球队的排名.不然怎么问? "is your team last? is
your team first? second to first? third from first? "万一几十名之后呢?你不得
花上10分钟问一个问题?你也许会这么问"how is your team doing this week?"寄望对
方知道你问名次, 万一对方不理解直接回"they are doing great this week."你是不
是就不了了之走人了?多数是吧?大多数老中不懂问也不敢问,多几句自己肚里的英语口

"at least 20."

跑到课堂请个正儿八经的老师去"学" 日常生活里的日常用语,你说这滑稽不滑稽?你说
你干嘛不在日常生活里学日常用语呢? 你又不是在中国,你在美国请老师在课堂里学日

跟你国内英语课一样，天天背你那自以为优美华丽普通人听得不知所云的句子？然后来
到美国自以为英语不错，用着自己习惯的思维跟周围人说一辈子的chinglish,还自我感
觉良好。
看你说的那些英语就说明你需要回学校找个正儿八经的美国本土老师教教你如何把英语
说得简练通俗易懂。
而不是在该用there be句型的时候下意识用have。

你说这些人人都明白，you missed the point。
the point is，英语里面天生缺个“第几”的表达法。所以不能直译，只能意译。
你说了半天就是说各种意译替代法嘛，这些大家都会。
“第几”和“什么名次”虽然在这个特定语境下意思一样，但是是两个不同的词。
中文的“第几”，可以用在出生次序，总统次序，比赛名次，排队序号等等，都一样用。
英文里面就要根据不同的语境，用不同的词来替换。
ranking只能用在比赛，president number只能问总统，birth order只能问出生。
这就是和“第几”的区别。
不像陈述句里面“first”和“第一”就是同一个词，可以互相直译。
ps: 你可以说一万遍birth order从理论上是多么有逻辑，但是现实中就是没人这么问。
楼主的问题不是怎么问能让人明白，而是美国人实际生活中是怎么不拗口地问的。

难怪there be 句型都不会用，自诩在大街上拉人说话能学会"土生土长"的英语，自我
感觉太良好了。你知道你天天跟人家说话只学会了什么吗？只学会了把自己想表达的东
西用英语单词组织起来说得溜道而已，再家几句鹦鹉学舌似的口头禅就自以为会说英语
了，居然连课堂上的本土老师的英语都不放在眼里。没错，日常交流含混不清语法错误
不影响你跟人交谈，因为别人可以适当忽略你的语法，但是写出来就让人觉得一股怪味
还不自知。

你说的完全正确，我今天特意问了上课老师，回答是not easy,英语里没有直接问第几
任的，实在要问，先给出上下文理解，比如先说华盛顿是the first president,再问
what number of presidents is Obama？所有人就能理解了。

order of presidents are not chronological but numerical. If you asked about
chronological, it would be the YEAR of their presidency.

奥巴马是美国第56届、第44任和第43位总统。
