- 莫非的胡琴，说起来真是长长的一段事情。太长了，一切都没有的时候，先有了它，

哑地呜咽人生的悲哀无绝期，一切繁荣虚华过去了，原来是那胡琴声，济沧海来，渡桑
田去，朝朝暮暮，暮暮朝朝。莫非的事情，只是其中一个日白云灰的早晨，或者一个日
清云冷的夕暮，谁也记不得了，说起来，就是这么回事。
可惜美人迟暮，钟晓阳已经不写了。

I think godfather is most suitable, for a godfather carries the same
responsibilities as "义父" despite the fact that a direct translation of the
words doesn't necessarily match up. In western tradition, if anything
happens to a kid's parents that prevent them from raising the kid, then it
is the god father's responsibility to bring up the child as his own, very
similar to the responsibility of a "义父."
