Just noticed a co-worker's first name is "JP" without vowels. It is the
name of an American, so I am sure it is not an abbreviation for "Ji Ping."

我现在就有一名同事叫JP,接电话时他自己说我是JP.就发JP字母两个音.
以前也有一个老师叫JP(但那是她的中间名字),她自己也说她叫JP(也是发两个字母音)

有个设计师品牌就叫 jean paul gaultier，店里都缩写成JPG

usually the first letter is initial for first name, the second letter is
initial for middle name. if you don't know his real first name and middle
name, you better just read them like letters.

JP could be anything from Jean Pierre/Jean Paul to John Parker or James
Peter. It's just two initials.
