I have the same problem and our IT told me it was supposed to be like that. After VPN is connected I remote desktop to my office computer, then I can go online from that machine.
Sorry can not input chinese now. It is probably because, a default setting in VPN connection, which routers all your traffic through VPN server. This makes your IE can only connect to internal websites, not Outer. If that is the case, I remember there is a setting in property/ TCP/IP .. sth like do not use remote gateway??(not sure) hope this may help you
