I didn't set administrator password in windows 2003 before since it is just
for home use. now I need to use remote desktop which a password is needed.
how can I add a new password to the administrator account? thanks!

by default, windows doesn't allow user with blank password to logon via
remote desktop. you can turn off this behavior for your home use instead of
setting administrator's password.
1. run secpol.msc,
2. go to Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options
turn off "Accounts: Limit local account use of blank passwords to console
logon only"
If you prefer to change the password, you can try below in command line
window:
net user administrator
