最近试了两台XP机器，automatic update都是设置为“notify me but don't
automatically download or install them”，任务栏上看到有提示说有updates之后
，就选择了下载。然后任务栏上的小图标就不见了。update下载的progress也不显示。
然后等到要关机的时候，就会看到提示“install updates then shutdown”。请问这
是怎么回事呢？
以前的时候，下载了多少百分比，右下角任务栏上都会有个小图标提示啊。
有个机器好久没用了，好像一共有好多updates，每次开机就提示下载最新的updates，
但是关机的时候总是不知道究竟下载了多少。很不方便。
是不是最近windows updates的操作方式改变了？silent installation？

在什么地方啊？

"start/run", "gpdit.msc" in windows xp professional, not sure if it is
available in xp home.

i don't think group policy is available in xp home

it is the commond to start the "group policy" interface, available in xp pro
fessional.

Why I got this error: "Windows can't find gpdit.msc. Make sure you typed the
name correctly....."???
I use XP pro in a domain.
You sure it is "gpdit.msc"???

那应该是在Win2003里用的, XP pro应该没有....
(or I am not the admin?? because I got the same error.)

check /windows/system32 folder to see if you can find it.
