if you just want to listen the mp3s,
1. install another OS supporting 16-bit(or 32 bit ?) char
eg: linux, win2k(strongly recommanded)
2. call a friend online who has NT or linux, tell him to copy down the mp3s,
and change the names to be win98/ME-readable and use internet to
transfer back to you.

and I remember somebody said in this board: winME can only be installed
in primary partition. If you reinstall it, take care of the partition table.
