check three parts:
1. autoexec.bat
2. Start->programs->startup
3. regedit:
hkey-local-machine->software->microsoft->windows->currentversion->run
it works in win98. i'm not sure how about win2000.

use msconfig from win98
From JHQ:
"you can try using the older Windows 98 version of MSCONFIG.
· Copy the file msconfig.exe from the c:\windows\system folder to the
Wind
ws 2000 c:\winnt\system32 folder.
· Click | Start | Run | and type msconfig on the text box and click th
e OK
button to start MSCONFIG
· ignore the error messages you get about not finding the following fi
les
o config.sys
o autoexec.bat
o win.ini
o system.ini
· Click the startup tab
