今天开组会听人提起，当时就想八成是阿三，上网一查新闻果然是阿三
Vipul Bhrigu，Toledo大学的博士，到Univ of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer
Center做破四刀。从09年12月开始“细致而系统”的暗中破坏同组博士女生Heather
Ames的样品
女博士渐渐发现了问题，开始还以为是自己犯了错误，采取了一些措施防止出错，甚至
拿到未婚夫的实验室去做，总是有各种各样的问题。怀疑有人破坏，说给朋友，导师，
学校相关部门听，都劝她是不是自己多虑了，甚至认为是她自己工作不顺利，试图归结
于其他原因
直到出现media上被洒酒精，并且接二连三的发生，终于正式由警方介入。女博士被审
问两次，测谎一次，才给实验室安装了两个摄像头，并且非常震惊（对于他们，对于我
肯定是理所当然）的发现实验室新来的，“和蔼可亲，友好，健谈”的咖喱破四刀从冰
柜中取出自己的样品，然后拿起擦桌子消毒用的酒精spray往里面一阵乱喷
庭审判了8.8K的罚款和6个月probation,40小时社区服务，给实验室设备、研究进度、
人员工资造成的损失要开听证会确定，初步数字72K。咖喱破坦承是为了减慢同事的进
度让自己看上去好一点。当他的破四刀老板给以前的博士老板打电话时再次惊人的发现
，咖喱破4月认罪，6月又回到Toledo大学做了破四刀，并谎称离开Michigan的原因是与
新老板不和，终于被再次解雇
等在法庭外面的时候咖喱破的老婆，怀着小咖喱，（假模假式的）义正言辞的对他说：
“我真希望你去蹲监狱！”，但是在开听证会之前就一起逃回阿三国去了
咖喱破在导师的评价中是一个“average student”，但也上了一次大名鼎鼎的Nature

为什么阿三在警方介入后还不收敛？故事编的不好，虽然我觉得阿三总体不好。

是的，阿三本人还给自己辩护“lack of moral judgment”,这个很无耻。长这么大海
不知道做这样的事可耻？发现后经别人教育才意识到。

阿三的思维，不可用中国的儒家道德标准来评价。他们随意拿别人的东西，认为是理所
当然的。你要和阿三当室友，你的菜估计一半被他们吃掉，而且没有一点羞愧。我听一
个印度的朋友说，这是他们国人的传统。

我有过印度室友，素食主义者，不吃我的东西，还时不时地给我东西吃，后来搬走了还
请我吃饭。
所以，我觉得印度人多数也是好的。当然了，我仍然觉得他们总体上中国人狡猾。

我接触过不少印度人，好的肯定有，而且有我非常尊重的人。
但是更多都是比较WS的，我要说这个民族比较没有诚信，好的那些是小概率。

你有什么样的凭据就可以评价整个民族？印度总共有多少人，你又认识几个？你的观点
说得好听点是狭隘，说得不好听就是纳粹。你难道不知道有不少美国人就是用你说的同
样的话来评价中国人的。你是不是也很开心？

我在美国超过10年，在日本呆过1年多，去过新加坡，马来西亚，香港澳门，去过欧洲
好几个国家。
我也去过印度，在那里呆过一个月。这之前之后我都和他们有过业务往来。我直接和间
接（书信传真电邮电话）接触过不下一千个印度人。在印度的一个月简直是nightmare
，我在任何一个国家地区都没有这么糟糕的经历。如果你说还不够，那么谁也没法评论
谁了。因为大家都不会接触数万外族人才能评论。
美国人有几个人去过中国，而且接触过上千中国人然后评论的？

Disagree completely.
Every individual can comment. The positive comments will cancel the
negative comments, this is how statistics work.
Under your argument, everything would be agnostics.

Yes, every one can say something. But it must be based on facts. If you didn
't do statistical analysis of the whole population, you cannot make your
claim. Besides, what is your criteria. What makes you think your criteria is
unbiased? More importantly, it is the common sense there are good and bad
people for any country. Any words to disparage a whole nation is absolutely
wrong. What did you learn from the World War II?

我们实验室前段时间有个本科生丢了本教科书，后来一个月里接二连三又丢了好几本，
实验室硬皮书差不多除了电话本全丢光了。最后丢到老板头上。老板毛了，报警。警察
撒网，后来警察在学校旁边一条街上的一个书店找到有人试图卖丢的几本书给他们，还
留了email. 一查，是三个月前我们实验室雇的一个打工的阿三temp worker。
这个阿三还不是印度来的，是第二代移民ABI，表面上看起来很nice，跟谁都聊。但是
干了一两个月之后开始开小差，老板不在的时候就偷偷看电影，经常在上班时间串到隔
壁实验室跟人闲聊。后来被警察带走，关于偷书他也供认不讳... 这货手脚不干净，脑
袋也不灵，居然用自己真实的email联络学校门口的书店询价。我看他就是找刺激，被
抓了才高潮。

不会，中国人比他们差远了，中国文化是坏人之心不可有，
印度教里肯定有做人的道理让他们有这种群体特征，记住
他们是部落进化过来的，和油太有类似的地方

Completely disagree. Everyone can say something and it doesn't have to be
based on facts. It could be opinion as well. Even court allows witness'
opinion. Opinion, by definition, is biased. But that's OK. Opinions in
court are cross examined and balanced by both sides.
In other words, even if you didn't do any statistical analysis, you could
still state your opinion that you don't like XXX people with your reasoning.
For example, in my whole life, I haven't never seen descent XXX people.
It's up to the audiences to question and determine what credibility or
confidence the speaking person has.
If the majority XXX people are really nice, you would hear a lot of speakers
using facts to back their opinion. And the little number of bashers will
be outnumbered. Vice versa. This is how statistics work. We are all
experiencing it. What we should do is accept that opinion is not only legal
but also a necessity of the society, keep listening, observing, evaluating
the speakers' confidence and credibility, and keep arguing rationally.

Of course everyone has the right to say something. It's basic idea of free
speech. But you have the right to say something does not mean what you said
is right. You can say something irresponsible. You can say something to hurt
other people's feeling. You can also say something to make yourself stupid
or an idiot.

不过从后果来说，上次中国女生把放样品的冰箱给断了电，那个造成的损失大多的，不
知道后来有没有起诉这个中国人，那是多少人好几年的心血。
