(1)hooking your vaio's harddisk to the Dell.
(2)copy all the files on the Windows install CD to your vaio's harddisk.
(2)move back your harddisk to vaio and install the windows from the
hard disk.

if your BIOS can boot from a network drive, then you should be fine by using
your Dell CDROM as the network drive to boot from :)

Then, hook you HD to Dell.
copy Windows setup files.
use a dos disk to make your HD bootable.
Put the HD back to your vaio and install windows.
Don't forget load smartdrv before you start to install.

Another way:
Follow step 1 and 2.
3. go to i386 of the copied setup dir, run winnt
4. Let the DOS part of setup finish. When the system start reboot, shutdown.
5. Mount the harddrive to your viao and continue.

FYI:compgeeks sells such adapter to hook laptop HD to desktop IDE.
Iforgot the name though.
