pretty much bullshit in terms of SOAP hurting SUN, Oracle
or displacing Java etc. It's just a platform-independent
RPC protocol. What is RPC? it's just a mechanism for making calls across
network. The server that actually processes the call and the
client that uses the result of a RPC call still run on
whatever platform they used to run, and will always be
developed in the best language that suits their specific
request (high-performance language such as C for server,
portable language such as J

I agree with your opinion about those journalists/translators.
Also agree with you that this isn't going to replace anything.
But if you think about it, MS can benefit from this standard
(if it does become a standard), because in EDI area, MS doesn't
have the upper hand. It has to level the field, Once this thing
becomes the standard.
