本人国内会计本科毕业，在国内也从事会计的工作十几年了。来美近4年时间带孩子生
孩子，现我想重新捡起专业学习然后找工作。但不知是直接靠cpa还是申请学校读个
master. 也不知考cpa的难度有多大，是不是还的修许多得的专业课。近40的人了，感
觉来美后前途一片迷茫，正是怀念以前在国内的好工作。可是没有办法，人只有向前看
。

of course, Master first. ideally, you need both CPA and master beacsue CPA
is just a exam. If you have no relevant accounting experiences, it is very
hard to find an ideal job with just CPA exam passed. Master is a key to get
into accounting industry. Plus, you can use the campus interview opportunity
to apply Big 4 job while you study Master. Then, you can consider taking
CPA exam.

oh, sorry, i can not understand, it is not easy to find jobs even i have CPA
? i am just thinking CPA is a key to find jobs, could u say it in more
detail? thanks!

Check with your state board of accountancy for requirements to sit for CPA
exams. Normally certain amount of credit hours is required and only
undergranduate hours are not sufficient. So you may need to take some
courses or even go to graduate school in order to get enough credit hours.

The license helps but is not necessary unless the position specifically asks
for it.

Thanks for your wonderful advice. Do you think it is significand which
school you graduated? Now I am preparing for apply a normal unversity in
the Maryland.

我也是在国内做财务工作8.9年了，做得也挺有成就感，来美国后就是呆家里，也挺失
落的。我想cpa比学位更重要一点，如果你有身份的话。当然，最好是都拿，我就是这
样努力的。有兴趣可以一起交流。

if i have cpa but have no local experience, does cpa could help me to get my
first job? since states recognized all i had in china besides master from
china, i think i could get cpa here.

I don't think which school you graduate from matters regarding sitting for
CPA exams as long as you meet the credit hour rule... However, you may want
to check with the board on that. :)

You are welcome! The license, like everything else on the resume, could get
you an interview, and you can go from there! :)
A few ppl I know, fresh graduate w/o local experiences or the license, got a
job anyway! I think it depends on the position & industry you are looking
at and how you behave in the interview etc... :)

passing CPA exam is one thing, get CPA license is another thing. you might
want to check with your state board of accountancy for the requirement to
apply CPA license. In CA, you need to at least 150 semester credits and one
year accounting experiences under a active CPA supervising. In general,
undergrad credit hour is not enough to meet 150 hours requirement. Personal
experiences, American Education background is way more important to find a
job to get into the industry.
