我来美超过5年了，去年报税已经是用1040了。2010年前9个月是OPT，10月开始H1b。看
隔壁帖子，
不少人申请延期报税，这样可以file 1040NR。为什么？按resident报，有standard
deduction,OPT又可以claim treaty, 不是挺好吗？那我今年应该用哪个表呢？到明年
，我算
resident还是non-resident啊？（看到有人说，H1b才1年，没过那个5-yr test，只能
算NR）

你如果已经是resident，就不用琢磨这些了，用1040报就是了。

属于self-employment，要交15.3%的social security tax 呢，是不OPT不用交social

check with your human resources department for faculty maternity leave. you
may be entitled for a break of a whole semester.

usually that leave is without pay. 12 weeks

depending on university. My school can give you (mom or dad) half year for
full pay and one year for half pay. You should check with your HR. Dep head
knows well.

8 weeks maternity leave, one semester off. but doesn't postpone the tenure
