国内一朋友得了舌下神经麻痹，有一半没有知觉，只能靠另一半带动
吃饭说话很成问题，严重影响正常生活
在国内四处寻医无果，协和，北京口腔医院都去过了
不知道美国有没有类似的病例和较好的医治手段

it is true that larry did not get the tenure when he was in the u.s. for
various reasons, but his contribution to corporate finance, espeically
corporate governance, clearly makes him one of the very top persons in the
profession.

Although he was more than qualified for the tenure, he did not get it...

If he went to NYU as AP, then the only way for him to be promoted to be
associate professor is to get tenure.

Assciate Prof at Stern School does not necessarily have tenure. I think
the promotion to associate occurs after 4 years, but the tenure clock is 8
years, maybe 9.
At Univ of California, Associate Prof must be tenured. But this is not
true in many other places.

精英主义是要不得的，是不是某人在某牛校tenure了，他说的就是全对的？
屁股坐错了地方，说出误导的话，迷惑更大，危害更大
再说了，学术水平和tenure真的没有什么必然联系，尤其是在商学院
有些商学院的politics真的太多了

How big is your sample？
有人的地方就有politics. Nothing especially good or bad with b-schools.

i do think politics matters more in b school, since there are so many
depts, and their research methods vary really a lot. it is barely
possible for those in sci and engineering and even economics depts
to have that large gaps.
there is no way to test it statistically, i admit.
as for the relationship between b-school politics and tenure, it is
hard to say. dept-level decision matters most in general, so it might
be the dept politics rather than that at the school level.
btw, lang's tenure issue

What you said may be true, but the same issue is present in other
fields,
too. For example, the tenure decision for a labor economist would not
stand or fall on the opinion of a macro economist. It will be decided by
that small group of labor economists, hence the potential for a couple
of
people to dictate the process. Similarly, particle physicists probably
have little to say about the case for a condensed matter theorist.
