independent

Of course the best package will be that you are sent to China as a
expatriate employees. Under this circumstance, your benefit (i.e. health
insurance)will be covered worldwide. The company will withhold payroll tax,
fed/state income tax from your compensation paid in US, issuing you a W-2
at year end. If you are working in China for over 180 days during a year,
the company will be responsible to pay China individual income tax on a
monthly basis on your behalf even if all your salary is paid out in US.
Depending on your salary level, you may owe more income taxes in China
comparing to US, which eventually allows you a foreign tax credit to be
claimed on your US 1040.
It doesn't matter what your nationality is. Individual income tax is
determined based on residency, which basically is where you worked and lived
more than 180 days in a year. No matter where you live and work, you still
gotta file US 1040 as long as you want to hold on to your green card. File
tax return is not necessary the same thing as paying taxes.
You don't have to pay US self-employment tax when working abroad if all your
compensation is paid in China.

Tictaclf, let me make sure i understand you right. Are u saying youself pay
US tax and the company pays Chinese tax for you, because your China tax is
higher than than US tax in this case, you get foreign tax credit a non-
refundable credit, resulting you net payment is limited to US tax only.
If so, that means extra cost for the company right? since they have to pay
China tax for this employee.
How is bonus treated? as far as i know, bonus is 10% taxed in China without
any
cap, however, in US, bonus treated the same as salary.Assume your bonus
weights very heavy in your total compensation, would the employee ends up
pay US for the diff of bonus tax China vs. US?
