请教各位已经工作的前辈：
有一个entry level的offer，是做P&C的中型公司，在中小城市，
我是finance的master，过了前3门考试，有一年多finance方面的工作经验，编程、英
语、交流能力都比较强，
起薪给$52,000是不是低了点？好像看DW Simpson，做P&C的给个起薪$56,000比较fair
吧。
请各位根据当时和当前情况不吝赐教，多谢多谢！！

You 1-year experience in finance can be translated to 0.5 year (at the most)
for insurance industry. Master in finance helps, but not worth much in P&C
(may have more weight on the Life side).
Simpson salary survey says the 10% to 90% percentile (INCLUDING bonus) is
betwen 48k - 62k, so your salary is within that range.

's living standard
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~in this field, master and bachelor has NO difference,
and finance experience may count but not much in this field. Exams matter.

~~~~~~~~~unless u have other offer with similar company with higher salary,
it's very hard to bid ur salary up, and 52K is OK (not high, but not
particularly low).. : )

slightly low, but also depends on other factors such as size of firm and
more exactly, which company, etc. some companies are known to pay lowers and
others are known to pay higher salaries. =)
you also need to see how much exam increase in included from your company in
the future.
your finance master would not increase your salary level in most cases (
unless your company is specifically looking for it, most actuarial firms
prefer hiring someone with actuarial background - more related; some,

还是fair的，不过看了salary survey，怎么贴出来的都在range的高端，都$60K左右呢

感觉是的，估计最多上个2K，意义不大。怪不得以前听好几个人说起，跳个公司薪水才
大幅上涨，面试我的几个经理有一半都说起以前是从别的公司转过来的，当然他们主要
强调发展前景。

I suggest that you negotiate the sign-on and relo, ask for $4 after-tax, for
example....
Also, check out this site for the average salary of actuaries (ASA/FSA and
ACAS/FCAS) in your state and metro area to get some ideas if you really got
low-balled. Location matters a lot!
