This position is in the Mortality and Policyholder Behavior Assumptions
Group within the Actuarial function of Individual Life Insurance.
The primary responsibility of this Group is the development of financial and
actuarial assumptions used for a variety of business purposes including the
pricing of new products, financial reporting and forecasting, Economic
Capital, Asset Adequacy Testing and meeting other regulatory and reporting
requirements. In addition, the group performs analyses to support special
projects and to contribute to the full understanding of financial results.
Members of our group are offered exposure to a broad spectrum of life
insurance business issues that are discussed weekly in an executive setting
called the Experience Assumptions Review Committee. Users of our work
include the Individual Life Financial, Pricing, Valuation, and Financial
Modeling areas.
Primary responsibilities of this position may include:
Development or review of mortality and policyholder behavior assumptions
Support for experience study systems including producing reports and
updating business tables
Authorship or review of documentation pertaining to the development of
assumptions
Maintenance , development, and review of control procedures
Development of project plans and management of projects
Significant collaboration with other actuarial areas pricing valuation and
modeling
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have all of the following core qualifications:
B.A. / B.S. required - preferably in accounting, business, finance,
mathematics or related field
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Strong oral and writing communications skills
Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills
Strong attention to detail and organization
Self-motivated and flexible
Demonstrated interpersonal and partnering skills
Strongest consideration will be given to candidates who possess the core
qualifications and who have some of the following qualifications:
Experience in GAAP or STAT expense or financial reporting
Experience with Polysystems or LifeMeasure
Knowledge of Oracle or SQL
Knowledge of Microsoft Access, VBA
Continuing education toward a professional designation or advanced degree
Knowledge of life insurance products
Actuarial Examinations
