I suppose the pirated PC software are probably "the latest and the greatest".
Then you have nobody but the software maker (M$ in this case) to blame.
M$ for one decided to make Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) 97/98 files
unreadable by PowerPoint 4 or ealier. You can download PowerPoint viewer 98
for Mac from M$ web site (look very hard for it). The Word file should be
saved as Word 4 or 5 format on the PC, or get a copy of MS Office 98 for Mac.
As for the printing problem, I'd venture to guess
