Dear Officer,
I am an assistant professor at the University of xxx. I am writing this
letter to invite my parents, *** and *** to visit me in July, 2012. We hope
this letter can clearly explain their situation and assist them to get visa
for entering into the United States.
When I was 16 years old, I left my parents to study in a university, which
was 10 hours by train away from my hometown. For 14 years after that, even
though I visited them every year, I was not able to spend much time with
them each year because of study and research, especially now due to my busy
schedule as a new tenure-track professor. My parents talk with me over the
phone very often, and I constantly feel their worries about me because I
live in a far-away foreign country. I understand they could not stop
worrying if they had never experienced my life. That is the main reason that
I want to invite them to live with me for a few months and hope they
realize that I have grown up and been able to take care of myself.
I am also planning trips so that they won’t feel too bored. Since my job
pays well, I have enough money for these trips. I will take them to see the
skyline of city A, city B, some national and state parks, and we will also
visit vineyards and farm towns in ***. I hope these trips will give them
good impression on the U.S. In turn, they will be happy knowing that I have
good life in the states.
The following facts prove that my parents have no immigration intent: (1) I
have a younger sister and a younger brother who are both working in China.
My maternal grandfather is 90 years old, and my mother, being the only
daughter young enough to be helpful, is a main care taker. (2) My parents
have a large house and 10 mu of land in the countryside and a spacious
apartment in the nearby city. They love both places and love to hang out
with their numerous friends and relatives in both places. (3) They have
steady income of their own and enjoy virtually free healthcare paid by the
central government. My parents have been great farmers all their lives. Now
that farming is made easier than ever by the introduction of large
machinery and more rewarding than ever by the new agriculture subsidy
program, they earn more than 20,000RMB with only 3 months’ actual working
time each year. They are not prepared to retire yet. With thousands of words
and the help of my sister, could I only persuade them to entrust their
summer crop to a relative and come visit me during my summer recess; there
is absolutely no way I can keep them beyond the sowing season (early October
) of the winter crop.
Overall, my parents have strong bonds in China. No one can keep them in the U.S. for longer than a couple of months. Upon the nonimmigrant
visa application requirements, I believe my parents have enough
certifications to prove their qualification for getting visa. Please feel
free to ask for certificates from my parents or contact me via phone: 000 or
email:xxx. I really appreciate your time and consideration for interviewing
my parents in this busy time.
Sincerely,
XXX
