I guess, currently astronomy has no direct civil
applications. But it does not mean it is not
important.
First, I think we should understand the space environemt
the earth locates. e.g., a small eruption from the Sun
can easily knock down the telecommunication on the Earth.
Some energetic particles from the solar eruption can
easily kill a spacewalk astronaut. So, the `Space Weather'
forecast is important for astronauts and telecommunication.
Second, stars and galaxies provide us a cosmic labora
