1. Deep sky wonders
Walter Scott Houston, Stephen James O'Meara
这本书是Sky&Telescope多年的Deep sky wonders专栏作家
Walter Scott Houston几十年连载的结晶。里面即有很多
大家熟知的梅西耶天体，也有更多不为人知但很有趣的
天体。
更好的是，这本书并不是枯燥地介绍天体，而是一个有
很长观测经验并且非常热情的老人，仔细地讲解和这些
观测有关的故事、历史，让人爱不释卷。
2. Deep Sky Companions - Caldwell Objects
3. Deep Sky Companions - Messier Objects
这两本都是Stephen James O'Meara写的，他是一个非常
了不起的目视观测者。关于他的事，在Seeing in the
Dark里有专门一章来介绍。
4. Seeing in the Dark
Timothy Ferris
这是我最喜欢的书之一。它也非常畅销，不停地再版，
而且出了CD朗读版，对一本天文书来说非常难得了。
读这本书，感觉是给

Palomar一直在进行着观测，从未间断过。
Palomar 200" WIRC cam: J H K band deep imaging of extra-galactic sources.
In K band, you can reach as deep as 23mag in Vega.
Palomar 60": automatic searching for GRBs and Supernovae. Never stop.
Palomar 48" QUEST: searching for extra-planets, transieting objects.
现在还在进行扩建：optical and near-infrared interferometer.
怎么样，不止是太阳镜吧？光污染对于任何天文台来说都是问题。但为什么Palomar
在南加还可以进行观测？呵呵，多了解一些观测理论和实际操作吧。

Maybe I do not completely know why Purple Moutain Observatory (PMO)
is going down, but I have spent 7 years at NJU and have some
my own understanding. Light pollution is certainly one issue,
but the elevation of PMO is lower than 300 meters, far below
the cloud level; Weather of Nanjing is the typical JiangNan weather,
too many cloudy days; the humidity is high, and so is the atmospheric
trubulence. So, the site selection of PMO at Nanjing is a mistake
at the first beginning.

有人用质量好的4寸折射镜,比如Tele Vue的，看遍了Messier
和Caldwell.其实我这里条件也很一般，目视星等一般也就5等-
6等之间，但是有时天气会特别好---大家都说海边雾气重，不
适合看，但是总有雾气很少，天气极其明朗的时候。所以如果
坚持，总能看到的。DSO受灯光影响很大，污染重的时候很可能
找到了也看不见。
觉得梅西耶马拉松没太大意思，如果时间允许，不如慢慢地
仔细看每一个天体，那才是享受。而且很多有趣的DSO都不在
梅西耶表里,梅西耶的本意只是为了给寻彗者提供方便.或者将
来换个好镜子拍照吧，现在的镜子只能拍点行星。

看来住在污染少的地方还是很幸运的。

这一张是相机在望远镜上afocal方式拍的北斗勺把上的开阳星，

我也不熟...第一张是用三脚架在我们附近的海边拍的.
第二张是出去玩的时候拍的,没有三脚架,就把相机
放在车顶上,下面垫了本书.
这两张都是15秒,f/2.8.我的相机不能自己调ISO,就没调.
我对相机也不太明白,其实试试就知道了.听说用好的
数码单反拍夜空会很漂亮.以前看cloudynights有人贴过
用数码单反直接拍的猎户,非常漂亮,M42的形状都很细致.
