Houston tx i610 west section driving north. During transferring to 59 on the
way to Chinatown
The traffic suddenly slowed down. I braked immediately and felt I almost
hitted the front car. At the moment of feeling lucky I heard a bang then
another bang. Then the whole family in my expedition relalized somebody
hitted us twice. Six people aboard. Younger son woke up time was 3:20 march
8. Women's day
My hands were shaking as my wife described afterwards my truck completely
stopped I was thinking the next step. Whether trying to drive forward. Then
decided to not. Thought to go outside to check damage decided staying in
the car. My wife called police was told somebody had reported.
In about five minutes polices and fire truck and ambulance (wrong spelling?)
police blocked 3~4 lanes Forgot to take any pictures to police cars and
traffic scene gave out insurance and I'd registration
Went out and greeted the driver behind us. A Asia person and very polite
Just one person In his Tacoma
Asked police lady about third car. Driver were ok a black woman she was
very emotional
Soon police asked everyone got out of car. Third car. Camry smoking might
burn and explode
Police lady help holding my younger son 5 years old. My father in law moved
slowly as he usually does.
I checked damage my bumper has minor damage the second one had median
damage coolant is out
Bumper and cover and heat exchanger (can not spell that word) third one had
serious damage At least close to totAl
Police ask Do I need towing service I said my car should have no problem.
Was asked to drive to sideway After it got chance checking damage further
. Trunk door still can be opened with slight resistance and bumper has minor
deformation there are two tiny dent on the trunk door. my expedition
almost no damage if not check closely
Then police asked my family get into car drive to nearby parking lot waiting
them. Later on learned the third Camry driver no insurrAnce a bad day for
everybody involving accident The worst for her.
My first involvement in accident with over $400 loss (second one overall) in
my 13 year driving The first was with learning permit scratching a dent
on another car
The second Asia driver most likely Vietnamese
I regard myself an cautious and safe driver always keep a good safety
distance. But still get involvement into accident. Daily refinement and
reflection of my driving should emphasized Safe distance is very
important which will save you most of time. Without it I might hit the car
in front Not like other way arround. I often tell my loving one Enough
safe distance and great habit are the only savior other than God when
something unexpected happens while driving
Another thought: after taking picture of my trunk, the Vietnam second truck
driver said his next would be ford. I bought expedition one month ago a
retired 2013 fleet truck. Make me feel safer always remind myself never hit
any car too heavy would cause too much damage. Might forget to remind
myself never to be hitter by other cars
