What's New for 2016
The 2016 Buick Envision will be an all-new model.
Introduction
The 2016 Buick Envision is a midsize crossover that will slot between the
tiny Encore and the three-row Enclave in Buick's U.S. lineup.
The five-passenger SUV is built foremost for buyers in China, so much so
that it will also be manufactured in Yantai, China, and exported to America
by this summer. It's an obvious fit in Buick's expanding lineup, especially
given similarly sized competitive models like the Acura RDX, Lexus NX and
Lincoln MKC.
The Envision will ride atop a new GM global platform that will also underpin
the next-generation Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain. Power will come from
a 252-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, joined to a
six-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.
Standard equipment will include 19-inch wheels, heated front seats and
heated steering wheel and a Bose premium sound system. Options will include
cooled front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a hands-free power liftgate and
WiFi hotspot connectivity.
Modern safety features and driver aids will include adaptive cruise control,
automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, automatic parking assist
and a 360-degree parking/reverse camera. An 8-inch touchscreen anchors the
entertainment interface, while an active noise-cancelling system should help
deliver Buick's trademark cabin serenity.
Check back for more on the new Envision, including specs, driving
impressions and buying advice, as it becomes available.
