Job Description
A postdoctoral position for a trained patch-clamp electrophysiologist is
available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Ade Adebiyi at the University
of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis TN. The candidate will be
involved in projects that investigate the physiological functions of ion
channels in renal vascular smooth muscle and glomerular cells. Required
qualifications include a PhD in Physiology or a related field. Experience
with patch clamp electrophysiology using freshly isolated myocytes and/or
cultured mammalian cells is compulsory. Familiarity with cell and molecular
biology methods and a record of research accomplishments are also required.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to be involved in
multidisciplinary cardiovascular and renal research. The laboratory utilizes
numerous experimental approaches, including techniques drawn from cell and
molecular biology, electrophysiology, Ca2+ imaging, small vessel myography,
ultrasound transit time and laser-Doppler flowmetry, and live animal imaging
using multiphoton microscopy.
