i worked with long bone (i.e., femur and tibia). i wonder which
part of the skeleton that you are dealing with, as well, the
age of the mice. i flushed bone marrow out after i got rid of
the muscle. the quantity is not bad, given the fact that there
are many osteoblasts in the growth plate; however, as i have
said, the total amount should not be very high at all. so my
advice would be, try to collect several parts together, remove
the muscle in cold PBS ASAP, and homogenize (polytron) in TRI
ASA
