To Whom It May Concern:
My name is XXX, an F-1 PhD candidate at XXX University. I would greatly
appreciate it if you could grant my parents B-2 visas for a three-week trip
to the US during my father’s winter break.
There are two primary purposes of this planned trip, family
reunion and sightseeing.
Even though I have been keeping in
touch with my parents by phone and video chat closely, I am still hoping to
be living together with them for some time, particularly during Chinese
traditional holidays.
I have thought about going
back to see them; however, I am very busy studying and am involved in
various research projects in order to finish my PhD as soon as possible.
Therefore, it is quite difficult to find a vacation that is long enough for
this journey.
On the other hand, my parents have never
visited me before and I really want to show them my life, American culture
and the traditions here. In addition, Spring Festival is right in the middle
of my father’s winter break. So, we both agree it’s a good solution that
my parents take a three-week tour to the US this winter.
My father is a Middle School Senior Teacher and my mother is mainly working
on their farm. They are in good financial condition at our hometown,
Shandong Province, with a stable annual income of around XXX RMB and savings
of around XXX RMB. In addition, they have their own house. All these
factors can ensure their high quality of life there. For this visit, my
parents will pay for travel expenses like airfare and tourism costs while I
will provide them with living expenses here.
My parents will return to China before spring semester begins at Xuezhuang
Middle School, where my father is teaching or he would lose his job which he
has really enjoyed as a teacher for more than twenty years. Their farm,
which is being primarily operated by my mother, needs to be taken care of as
well. Also, they cannot be apart for too long from their normal life with
their daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter, siblings and friends, with whom
they have been living very closely.
It’s impossible for them to give up these jobs,
relatives and relationships that they have been used to and relying on for
their whole life. In addition, they have nothing and can do nothing (cannot
speak English) but sightsee here in the US.
For your convenience, I have attached a list of supporting documents to this
letter. As my parents cannot speak English and may have some accent, I
truly appreciate your patience and kind consideration. Should you need any
further information, please feel free to contact me at XXXX (I can be
reached at this number 24/7).
Sincerely,
XXXX
