Reports to : head of Epidemiology , Asia Pacific
1. Job Description
Accountable for execution of epidemiologic deliverables for
multiple molecules across therapy areas requiring solid understanding of
strategic business context, and epidemiology methodologies and applications
Independently designs and/or reviews epidemiology studies aimed
at investigating natural history of disease, treatment patterns, or
potential safety signals which may include (but not limited to) automated
databases and observational (e.g., registry) studies
Expert in analyzing, interpretation, and communication of
complex epidemiology data
Builds strong collaborative relationships with partner functions
and/or business partners; works effectively in development teams and/or
cross-functional initiatives
Actively seeks opportunities for innovation through science and
process improvement to address corporate needs
Contributes to regulatory submission in collaboration with
clinical development, safety and regulatory affairs
Builds and maintains effective partnership with development and
post-marketing departments
Manages and collaborates with external vendors on design and
implementation of epidemiology studies and maintains comprehensive knowledge
of epidemiology and its application to drug development and drug safety in
a regulated environment
2. Description of Expertise Sought Within the Search
We expect this person to have broad training in several areas including: the
integration of epidemiological and statistical approaches through design of
observational studies and clinical trials and the development of registries
defined data analysis. We anticipate that the successful candidate will
forge collaborations with current staff in AP Biometrics and with the local
scientific and academic community.
3. Screening Criteria
A. Minimum qualifications (and when each is evaluated in the review
process)
• Ph.D. or MD with Master's degree in the epidemiology,
biostatistics, public health or equivalent combination of education and
experience
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in designing,
implementation and report of epidemiology studies
• Effective communication of epidemiological strategy and data both
written and oral.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with
colleagues
• Solid record of published research commensurate with years since
receiving master degree
B. Desired/Preferred qualifications
• We expect this person to have broad training in several areas
including: the integration of epidemiological, biostatistical, health
economical and social medicine approaches through design of surveys and
registries and the development of data collection tools and analysis models
• Prior successful experience in pharmaceutical industry and
ability to develop, manage and sustain an independent project involving
different functions.
• Knowledge of drug development (pre-clinical, clinical development
and post-marketing) is a plus. General understanding of private and public
epidemiology data sources and programming experience with SAS or/and other
statistical software packages is desirable
