I got a collection letter to my apartment of ~$30, but the name is not mine.
Will my credit be damaged if I ignore it?

今天把Windows虚拟机从Windows 7换到8.1，默认启动界面设成
Desktop。启动某个程序后进入Metro状态，然后左边就出现一个
"Swipe to switch between apps"的提示。这倒算了，但这个
提示居然占据屏幕不走了...查了一下，把鼠标挪到左上角可以去掉。
Windows不能先检测一下，没有触摸屏的机器，就别出来这个提示了。
另外Windows 8.x真不是为24寸及以上大屏使用的。使用Metro界
面的应用，就占据全屏，这种思路不知道是为什么? 24寸的大屏，
为什么要学8寸屏，屏幕上就显示一个应用呢？
这一点上大厨说得对："Our competition is confused.
They're turning tablets into PCs and PCs into tablets.
Who knows what they're going to do next?"
也说说好的一面，Windows 8.1的使用感觉比Windows 7要快一些。

大学里（比如stanford）的research associate职位是怎样的啊？
我看了stanford有的实验室有这个职位，是由有PhD学位的人来做的。
这个职位是比postdoc更senior的职位么？还是千老的另一种说法？有career path么？
工资怎样？

I don't think they know my phone, if it is just mail, it's okay. Will they
actually come to my apartment?

stanford usually offers senior post-doc with research associate title. the
main difference is research associate is usually a "permanent" position with
benefits (for example, 401K, free caltrain etc.), while post-doc needs to
renew his/her contract every year. other differences like stanford offers
only J1 for international post-docs, while research associates can have H1.
Salary wise, research associate is a bit more, not significantly. If you can
have CNS papers, doesn't matter what title you have.
conclusion: it is a fair statement that research associate is a more senior
position than post-doc.

nope, no worry
u way fwd the mail back, and let them find the correct address, and save
someone's credit-- I dont think anyone would ruin their credit for only $30
