Position Title: Senior Scientist
Position Summary:
We are seeking an
innovative and highly motivated Senior Scientist to drive the exploration of
emerging mitochondrial disease mechanisms. In this newly created position
reporting to the CSO, you will identify new targets and therapeutics for the
treatment of mitochondrial disease and dysfunction, and design strategic
research plans to create a novel pipeline of novel agents, partnering
collaboratively with KOLs and academic institutions, while actively managing
CRO’s in executing research objectives.
Responsibilities:
Identify
novel therapeutic targets, design and implement the strategy for validation
and discovery of therapeutics, including partnering with KOLs and CROs, as
needed, for the development of in vitro and in vivo assays for testing of
compounds. Responsible for the advancement of individual programs to a go/no
-go decision point for pre-clinical development.
Participate in ongoing
drug discovery efforts
Manage current academic research collaborations
and additional opportunities which
can help advance the company objectives.
Keep current on the competitive landscape in the mitochondrial
therapeutics
arena. Contribute to scientific literature and actively
participate at conferences.
Participate in the development of patent
applications

Requirements:
Self-starter and innovative
thinker who is comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
Ability to effectively communicate information both in oral and written
form; ability to integrate knowledge across diverse technical disciplines
Strong problem solving and project management skills
Ability to
maintain broad knowledge of state-of-the art principles and theories
Ph
.D. and post-doctoral research in cellular and/or molecular biology or
related discipline with a focus on mitochondrial biology
2+ years of
drug discovery (including target identification, validation) and preclinical
development experience required, preferentially related to mitochondrial
disease
