no need to look down Pan. As long as he has the paper first and reviewed, he is there first. The late comers can make it excellent, but the fact is still Pan is the first. Ask Hongkong's some award committee to award Pan millions dollars help Pan to establish the reputation as the first one to invent optiogenetics.

The abstract has delayed their patent for 10 years. I am sure it will put a spin to chance of getting Nobel prize. At least, it staked a sound claim of the first one to crack the field, no matter what happens after. Pan didn't have a good lawyer, otherwise, Pan should invalidate their patent. it is not too late to ask a review of their patent. Be sure to find out who were reviewers of their paper.

第一次听说这事 没想到啊,原来stanford的那个竟然都不是第一个。。。这个绝对要搞清楚谁是 reviewers,然后上诉撤销他们的patent,this is just unfair for Pan
