专家解答2州或多州报税:各州均为PART-YEAR RESIDNET就可以避免多重收税。
Dear TaxACT® Customer,
If you lived in Utah for part of 2011 and you lived in Iowa for part of 2011
, then you need to file a Part-year resident return for each state.
Currently you have prepared a resident IA return and a nonresident UT return
, which appears to be incorrect based on the information you have provided
here and in your tax returns.
When you file a part-year return with either state, you will indicate the
portion of your income that applies to each state on that state's tax return
. Thus, if you enter your data accurately you should not end up paying tax
to two states on the same income. Both state returns have instructions
available as you go through the Q&A. To access the instructions at any time
click the State Form Instructions link on the right side of your screen.
If you properly file a part-year resident return for each state you should
not claim a credit on either return for taxes paid to the other state. this
is because you already will have divided your income between the two states
by using the part-year resident status on each return.
Thank you for using TaxACT. Please let us know if you have any further
questions.
