Position Summary: This is a Research Associate position. Seeking an
individual with self-initiative, attention to details and ability to
integrate work from various students from NJCEP. Work involves
pharmaceutical powders and their particle engineering; applying knowledge of
dry coating, particle adhesion and surface energy to engineering
pharmaceutical powders. The person will be reporting to the Site-Leader, NSF
-ERC on Structured Organic Particulate Systems at NJIT.
Essential Functions: The person will develop pharmaceutical powders and
dosage forms based on particle engineering and dry coating. Handle research
and development work from federal, state and industry funds. Must interact
with equipment vendors, Industry project mentors, as well as manage contract
work. Additionally, the person will make significant contributions to
existing collaborative projects and interact with graduate students and
faculty to develop strong fundamental research program in other
pharmaceutical industry related projects.
Additional Functions: Responsibilities include:
Being involved in several research projects in pharmaceutical processing,
such as pharmaceutical dry particle coating, engineered particles, and study
of other particle processing systems. The research projects will involve
experimental methods, supported by engineering models and principles.
Interfacing with and helping with supervision of Center graduate students on
their projects.
Be the main point of contact (POC) for the dry particle engineering projects
and interact with industry mentors, faculty and students involved with
other Center and industry funded projects and industry project sponsors.
Prerequisite Qualifications: A M.S. with significant experience in
pharmaceutical technology or a Ph.D. in Engineering or Science.
Preferred Qualifications: Expertise in experimental research in
Pharmaceutical Processing, Particle Technology and/or engineering analysis.
Specifically, the person must have:
A. Strong experience in experiments and modeling, related to pharmaceutical
dosage development.
B. Excellent laboratory skills, excellent skills with developing
experimental apparatus and procedures, use of characterization at all length
scales, including particles and final dosage forms.
C. Excellent written and oral communication skills
At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites
may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of
the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience
specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position
