Key responsibilities: • Supervision of analytical scientists and technicians that provide analytical support to key innovation projects, assist in addressing product quality issues, and selected analytical services to key customer projects. • Develop lab procedures and practices that support the achievement of analytical services goals and objectives, focused on coordination of all analytical requests, generation and archiving of analytical reports, tracking and measuring group productivity. • Development of new analytical methods unique to the Company and focused on continuing to expand the company’s expertise in the characterization of polymer products. • Prepare research reports and presentations for internal and external customers. Required skills • At least BS degree in Analytical Chemistry with a preferred emphasis on polymer analysis and characterization methods. • Strong knowledge of chromatography primarily GPC, but also HPLC and GC methods • Demonstrated expertise and new method development that generated new testing capabilities for the organization. • Experience in managing and supervising quality or analytical groups of 4-8 people. • Well organized, process focused with demonstrated expertise in data management practices. • Ability to translate results of analytical tests into conclusions of findings and communicating those findings clearly and concisely to scientists, sales personnel and customers in both written and verbal formats. • Ability to work with internal and external customers to define what information is desired and what the appropriate and best test methods are available to answer the questions being asked. • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written • Ability to adapt to changing priorities • Strong working capability with PC systems and tools such as Excel , PowerPoint, etc.
