我知道phd老板是一定要写的。但是不知道博后老板是不是一定要他的推荐信？因为我
的博后不是在学校做的，在某国家实验室，只做了一年多点，博后老板也不是特别有名
。他要是写的话也只是一些关于我的research领域内的东西，跟phd老板的推荐信很多
地方应该是重复的。
而且我又另外联系了两个关系不错的老板，都是大牛，他们应该能给出更strong的推荐
信，而且support其他方面。
很多学校都是只要三个推荐人，我不知道是写上phd老板和另外两个大牛老板的名字呢
，还是一定要写上博后老板的名字？当然对于要五个推荐人的系，我肯定是会写上博后
老板的名字的。。。。

现在就博士毕业了'由于以前生化分子背景但现在夹杂了纳米生物医学应用'想找癌症等
基础研究薄厚申请了十几个牛校没有回复'想做第二兴趣纳米生物应用方向'联系了斯坦
福戴教授和艾默里聂教授背景不够强好像也没戏'剩下就要不考虑去国内戴教授门生刘
教授那里薄厚如何？我还是很想学些合成'生物应用的'；要不就考虑转行了联系了本校
教授好像可以读个计算机硕士或博士，到底怎么办啊？内心还是想做生物医学方向期望
以后能对癌症方面有所突破的'读计算机是好找工作但读几年出来想再回生物方向怕很
难'毕竟几年间隙没有文章发表回去很难啊'也不知道施院士计算机硕士怎么读的？各位
给点建议吧

later you will know the letters from people who were not your advisors are
not really that strong...or do not count at all...

usually, people suspect that an applicant does not get along well with his c
urrent boss if a letter from him is absent.
BUT, your case is a bit special. my 2 cents is to send the two biggies' lett
ers and your phd advisor's to 3-letter recuiters. make sure the two biggies
DO write strong letters. this is a benefit/cost trade off.
Also, make sure your current boss will not be pissed off by this.
in the worst case, the recruiter will call your current boss to check out ho
w you get along in the lab. as long as he does not stab you in the back, you
will be very fine.

找牛校牛老板没有很强的推荐比较难，多看看别的学校找个好老板。

Really? Are you suggesting the letters from non-advisor usually will not be
very strong, or are you suggesting a strong letter from a big bull but non-
advisor does not count? This latter case doesn't make sense to me at all.

你这么多老板啊？
既然全都是你的老板，研究领域都相近的话，我觉得选谁不选谁就没那么敏感了。

另外两个大牛不是我的老板啊。是合作时候认识的。都跟我挺熟的而且人很好，我相信
能给写很不错的推荐信，而且比博后老板有名，还可以从不同领域支持。
你前面说得很对啊，有的学校只有填三个人的名字的地方啊。要是写了我的老板和博后
老板，另外两个大牛就只能二选一了。。。

letter for you?
Just because they seem to like you? It does not make any sense to me at all.
I would think only advisors can know you well and write a really strong
letter using clear evidence. Non-advisors will give some support letters
about your personality, communication, and collaboration.

my suggestion is: do not avoid your advisors' letters for academic positions

Thank you! You are right, they can just support about my personality,
communication and and collaboration. I will include both advisors' name. :)
