三个Reviewers,一个很正,另外两个提出好多问题,但也没有说拒。以下是Editor的
决定。
Dear XXX,
Your manuscript has now been seen by 3 referees, whose comments are attached
below. And in light of their advice, I am sorry to say that we are unable
to offer to publish it in Nature XXX, at least in its present form.
You will see that, while our experts find your study of some value and
interest, they raise substantive concerns that cast doubt on the wider
implications of your findings and their suitability to a broad audience.
In particular, reviewer #2 ...........
Indeed, it seems that a significant amount of additional work and
clarification would be necessary in order to establish the relative merits
of your work, and it is far from clear whether the results will continue to
appear impressive in the light of this additional work. And while we would
not rule out consideration of a revised manuscript that makes a much
stronger case for the wider implications of these results and their
suitability to our very broad readership, we feel that, at this stage, the
present work is at too preliminary a stage to warrant publication in Nature
XXX.
Whether or not it will be possible for you to address all of these concerns
is not something we can assess at this stage. If you do decide to submit a
revised version to Nature XXX, it should include a separate response to all
of referees' individual comments, describing the specific changes and
additions that you have made. If you feel that you have addressed all the
comments and our concerns fully, please use the link below to submit the
revised version, with figures, and including a point-by-point response to
the reviewers' criticisms:
It is only fair to say, however, that we would be reluctant to contact our
referees again unless we thought that their comments had been addressed
completely. In a case such as this, where the revisions required are
extensive, we would naturally understand if you preferred to submit your
manuscript to a more specialised journal. Of course, our consideration of
such a paper would also be contingent on you not, in the meantime,
publishing the preliminary claims elsewhere.
We hope that you find our referees' comments helpful when preparing a
revised manuscript. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact
me.
