Dear Sir or Madam,
On October 16, 2013, ABC Network’s late night show "Jimmy Kimmel Live"
aired a sketch in which a child suggested “kill everyone in China” to
solve the U.S. debt problem and Jimmy Kimmel later asked the children "
should we allow the Chinese people to live?" The footage can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9HIKCHRYSM&feature=youtu.be .
Asian Americans are deeply offended by the casual attitude towards killing
and targeting of a specific ethnic group. Families and friends of Asian
American communities, and concerned citizens have pledged to stop
patronizing companies advertising during “Jimmy Kimmel Live”. We strongly
urge Subaru to call upon ABC Network to take responsibility for the
inappropriate sketch by terminating the show and to prevent similar
instances in the future.
During World War II over 110,000 innocent Japanese Americans were forcefully
relocated to detention camps. We should do everything we can to prevent
such blatant racism from happening ever again. We believe, as a Japanese
company, Subaru shares the same value with us and we need your help.
Sincerely,
