Dear Colleagues,
To our utmost sadness, our dear friend and the VLDB2006 General PC Chair
, Hongjun Lu, passed away in Guangzhou on March 3rd.
Hongjun was not only a great scholar, but also a friend to so many peopl
e all over the world. We will all dearly miss him.
Hongjun made a great effort to promote database activites in the Asia/Pa
cific region. We owe him a great deal in raising the level and visibilit
y of database research in this region.
