I guess 庸俗 is the direction many studios are taking these days, with the
popularity of ballroom dancing pushed by the DWTS shows ... anyway, one
should always explore different stuff, instead of getting so hang up on one
thing.
I recently read about an interview with Allan Tornsberg, and his view on the
current state of competitive dancing is very much spot-on: it has become an
industry and is losing the artistic aspect of dance.

1. He mentioned the music aspect, which i have not thought about.
"I mean the instruments they play are completely false. And it is the second
rate band. It is not a good band at all. They don't understand the Latin
music."
But who are "they"? the band playing music at blackpool? (if so, i agree
200%). Honestily, i don't personally like blackpool music. chacha doesn't
sound playful, samba doesn't sound bouncing, rumba doesn't

russian competition.
and i don't think he thinks the music at blackpool is poor. on the contrary,
i think he should like the blackpool music because he is an authentic
rhythmic dancer. i think he was probably saying that the band does not know
how to play music for latin dance. (like he said, maybe they were not using
the right instruments). he has always danced to the more traditional kind of

Merengue, Salsa, East Coast, Bachata, Mambo, Chacha, Hustle, Lindy Hop,
Blues, Tango, Waltz, West Coast......
(Damn! I dance too much and need concentrate on my work)
