I have a java Agent program, which needs a portable small but
powerful DB as knowledge base. is there such DB? I hope it could
be in the package of agent, other than stand alone. thanks

I guess "Berkeley DB" is exactly the one you want. It is
a pretty good small embedded db. It is open source and
can be get from www.sleepycat.com.
