hi,
I am a new comer to DBMS .
and my research direction is a kind of spatial and temporal
database. But I don't from where i can
get the papers, information, and progress of database research
can you tell me which conference, jounral and, mailing
list should i keeep an eye or join?

The best place to look for papers in dblp,
www.acm.org/sigmod/dblp/db
dblp also contains links to major database conferences.
Probably, the most important conferences are
sigmod, vldb, pods.

Yes, DBLP lists most literatures you would need in traditional database fields.
However, you might still need to consult your advisor about dedicated conference
or journals in spatial or temporal DBs.
There are tow links that you may find interesting:
http://www.cs.duke.edu/~tavi/spatial.html
and the otherone is TimeCenter.
There are always one setion on Spatial DB in Sigmod.

thnka you for you two.
I still have a question, which university
in the States have the best database
research team. I have visited the UCLA
and UC berkeley. I think
Berkeley has no research in Database now.
But which is the best? I don't know.

Here is a non-exhaustive list of universities famous on DB researches in USA:
Wisc-Maddison( Iguess it is the best one, :-)), Maryland, Berkeley( I think what
they
do is highly practical, not like Stanford, doing sth rather impractical, or ,
in otherwords, for publication only), Georgia Institute of Tech. U.of Washington
U. of Columbia, ...
And another 0lace that u must visit is IBM Almaden Research Center! Also look at
MSR as well.
