DB Restore through WAN?# Database - 数据库

SQL 2000 and 2005
Is the performance worse if we restore a database from a backup file across
the WAN.
Will it be faster if the backup file is copied over to a local location, and
then perform the restore?
I know it depends on WAN bandwidth, but what are your experiences in your
siturations?

没做过WAN的, LAN的做过, 还成
WAN跟bandwidth肯定相关
还是考到local吧, (当然不是data file所在的盘)

what about this:
if I am in Los Angeles, using my local workstation to connect to New York
server and issue a restore script. The file is at NY.
will this have any performance impact vs if I execute the restore locally at
NY (remote window)?

didn't see too much diff in your case. both can be considered as "local"
anyway.
