Microsoft Corp. posted an update to its Shared Source Common Language
Infrastructure (CLI) implementation, codenamed Rotor, which adds support for
Mac OS X.

That is old news. Rotor is only for research and educational purposes. So far
you can think of it as a toy. But it has its potential to grow...
And by the way, if anybody cares, "rotor" is a meteorological word here :)

hehe. 俺原来只知道.net可以在Windows和Linux下用。不过想想BSD什么的port should
be fine. Today I did "google". Then I found this old news. :)
What I want to show here is that .Net will be cross-platform. That's also the
reason why I embrace this tech. It's cross-platform and cross-language. :)

hehe, i guess there will be a language in the future like Mandarin
and all the others are just dialects.

实际上这个问题倒不大。
Eclipse的SWT是一个很好的例子。对dotnet的用户来说，API都是一样。
下面对各个平台调用不同的API.
Eclipse的例子：
windows: GDI
Linux: GTK or Motif
现在windows咱们就不管了。Mono用的是GTK来实现WinForm.
实际上QT挺好用的，可惜版权问题。sigh.
要不大家就统统browser based好了。呵呵。

It will be interesting. But no one knows.
Now you have C++/Java/C# family as the main stream. But we still have light
weight scripting language such as python, perl, matlab, powerscript.
My former advisor suggested me to do research on domain specific language
design instead of general purpose language design. hehe. You see, there is no
end.
