Dear Senator Grassley,
As a resident in Iowa, I would like to thank you for all the work you
have
done for us and for the States. The reason I wrote this letter is to
support
the H.R 3012 bill.
CNBC has ranked Iowa as the sixth best states in the list of "Top States
for
Business in 2010". Iowa has been known as a state supports diversified
business structure, in stead of being viewed as a farming state. As the
growing of manufacture industry, IT, healthcare industry and others, we
are
eager to find more high tech immigrants to join us, help us to get more
business here. As you may know, most of the graduate schools has large
percent of talent Indian and Chinese students major in Chemistry, Math,
Actuary, Computer Science and so on. The current immigration law does
not
provide them a good chance to serve our country, but letting them wait
years
to get the green card. Most of them, leave US and go back hometown, or
immigrate to Australia, Singapore. We used tax payers' money to help
them
gain knowledge, then we easily hand them over to our competitors, even
enemies. We do not care the race of the immigrants, as long as they work
for
our country, please support the HR 3012. I will vote for you, as you
will
represent us, and let our voices been heard.
Thanks.
Dear Senator Grassley,
I am an Asian American, and I support HR 3012.
Many of my friends are Chinese, who studied in US and worked here. They
graduated from top schools, got great jobs and paid high tax. However,
they are going back to their hometown in recent years, as they do not
want to wait for years to get permanent residents. They has problems to
get long term loan for their house, they need to pay higher tuition for
their children, and they cannot start their businesses. The interesting
thing here is that the companies they worked for did not hire someone
else, but simply relocate them to their Asian branch.
They no longer purchase houses in US, no longer pay property and income
taxes (according to the IRS Publication 515, "Compensation paid to a
nonresident alien, for services performed outside the United States is
not considered wages and is not subject to withholding." ) to US
government while still getting the money from US companies. We need to
stop that, provide them better chance to serve our country, let them pay
taxes, purchase house, not bring the business back to their hometown.
Please consider all these cases, and help us gain them back.
Regards,
Dear Senator Grassley,
I am the first generation of immigration. I would like to support
HR3012.
It is really hard to get scholarships in US for international students,
especially Asian, they need to earn 90% or even higher in GRE, GMAT
tests to get into a US graduate school, not to mention they are taking
the test using their 2nd language. It is really hard to get a job in US,
no employer is willing to apply H1 visa for them if there is any
American qualified, not to mention they are interviewing using their 2nd
language. Those people who go through all these are the talents we
needs, but they need to wait for more than 5 years to get a green card.
We are born equal, we should not let them wait for years only because of
the country they come from; we are born equal, after all these
competition, they already proved that they could serve our country, we
need them, no matter of the color of their skin.
Helping the talent stay is helping US to get stronger. Please listen to
our voice as you did before, please speak for us as you did before.
Yours,
Dear Senator Grassley,
As a sales person in Pharmaceutics Industry, I support the H.R 3012.
It has been a nightmare since 2008 for the Pharmacy industry, Merck is
laying off, Sigma is laying off, Novartis is laying off. All the
sudden, seems the entire industry is outsourcing and relocating to India
and China, the reason is simple: they cannot find enough chemists
experts to do research and produce profitable chemicals and medications,
when the economic is down, the funding almost cut in half, so they need
to cut cost, and lay off sales, accounting, marketing, purchasing
employees like us.
I asked many Chinese and Indian chemists, why they do not want to stay
in US? The reason they said really surprised me: They need to wait for
years to get a green card. They have enough resource and experience for
starting own business, but US immigration system does not let they do
so. After they gain knowledge and experience in US, they go back to
their hometown, bring the business with them. The truth is, the pharmacy
industry, the computer science industry are occupied by Asian
immigrants, as Americans not interested in those majors, and in the
short term, the trend will stay the same. We already outsourcing
manufacturing to Asian, losing thousands job opportunities, we cannot
let it happened to the high tech industries. Please modified the current
immigration law, provide them green card in a reasonable time, let them
work for US, in stead of bring the entire industry back to Asian.
We are all immigrants in the first place years ago. The country limit is
sending talent Asian back. After they bring all the business back to
Asia, an worse economic crisis will hit us even harder. Mr. Grassley,
please help us, Americans who work in high tech companies, save the
industries we worked in.
Thanks.
