It is highly unlikely that Expedia will cancel a portion of the trip and still charge you the full amount as it is a violation of the contractual obligations since you only consented to charging your credit card for the amount at checkout. Plus, it would be terrible business policy for Expedia to do something like that as it would taint the reputation of the company.
